ABOUT ZORLU HOLDING

The foundations of the success story of Zorlu Holding, which commands a highly important position in the Turkish economy through its size in production, exports and employment and in global markets with its competitive strength, were laid at the beginning of the 1950’s in Babadağ, near Denizli.

Having attained a position of being one of Turkey’s largest entities in the 2000s, Zorlu Holding’s operations have expanded to a wide area ranging from textiles to property, and from electronics to energy. As of 2006, Zorlu Holding was operating in the four strategic fields of activity:

-Home textiles, polyester yarn

-Electronic products, information technologies and durable consumer goods

-Energy

-Property

Having pursued growth through its activities in the home textile industry up until the 1980’s, and after establishing TAÇ, which is the leading brand of Turkey’s home textile industry, under the Zorlu Holding Textile Group, Zorlu Holding added Vestel Elektronik to its organization in 1994. The Holding then increased the number of its companies by entering the energy industry through Zorlu Enerji in 1996, and the property industry in 2006.

Zorlu Holding works for the future of Turkey is devoted to improving the quality of life for Turkish people, along with its 52 companies and approximately 30,000 employees.

Home textile, Polyester yarn:

The main field of activity of Zorlu Textile Group is the manufacture and marketing of yarn, curtain and home textile products (bedsheeets, comforter sets, bedspreads, tablecloths and piqués).

The Korteks Mensucat Sanayi ve Tic. A.Ş. (Korteks Textiles Industry and Trade Inc) Yarn Factory - the largest integrated manufacturer and exporter of polyester yarn in Europe and the Middle East - was established in Bursa in 1989 to meet the high quality polyester yarns needs of the Turkish textile industry.

In addition to the yarn it has specially developed for its DRY TOUCH® moisture-management fabrics, Korteks Yarn’s product mix also includes a diversified range of goods such as TAÇ FLAME RETARDANT, TAÇ COTTONLIKE, TAÇ ANTIMICROBIAL, TAÇ MICROMUSS, TAÇ ANTISTATIC, and TAÇ UV RESISTANT, and yarns and fabrics which meet the technical textiles sector’s needs.

With its own curtain and home textile manufacturing facilities, marketing company, and world-famous brands, Zorluteks Tekstil (Zorluteks Textile) is one of the leading producers for the home textile industry. The largest player in Europe in terms of comforter production, Zorluteks Textile is also ranked in the top three in the world in the same field. The Company is also Europe’s leading manufacturer in integrated curtain production.

The Group is the leader in the Turkish home textile industry with its TAÇ branded curtain and comforter products. Furthermore, the Group has brought an innovative and pioneering home textile retail chain understanding to the sector through Linens, the only international home textile retail chain in Turkey.

Meanwhile, Zorlu Textile Group also holds the production, distribution and marketing license rights of world famous French brand Pierre Cardin’s home textile products on global basis. The Valeron brand created by Zorlu Textile Group also continues to meet the needs of consumers in Turkey after having drawn intense attention from Europe.

Zorlu Group’s activities in the home textile business have shown rapid growth in years and spread to the four continents exceeding Turkey’s borders. Zorlu Textile Group is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of home textile with approximately 6,000 employees and production facilities located on 800,000 m2 of enclosed space.

Electronic products, information technologies and durable consumer goods:

Operating in the fields of consumer electronics, white goods and information technologies, the Vestel Group of Companies (Vestel) is the flagship of the Zorlu Group, comprising of 26 companies, 13 of which are located abroad. One of the world’s biggest manufacturers in its sector as well as a strong player in both the Turkish and international markets, Vestel offers a wide range of products in the fields of consumer electronics, white goods, and information and digital technologies.

Vestel carries out its production activities in Manisa, Turkey and Alexandrov, Russia. With an indoor production area of 1,000,000 m² in Manisa, Vestel City is the largest industrial complex in Europe to undertake production activities under a single roof. Having been Turkey’s export champion in the electronics sector for 15 years, Vestel is ranked in top three entities in Turkey in terms of export activities.

Energy:

The Zorlu Energy group provides a wide range of products and services including the production, sale and trade of electricity, natural gas trade and distribution, preparing projects of power plants and turnkey construction of the power plants as well as long term maintenance and operation. Zorlu Energy Group is one of the leading corporations in the sector with 5 natural gas plants, 7 hydroelectric power plants, one geothermal plant and one wind farm, with its portfolio totaling 771 MW of installed capacity. As well as its natural gas trading business, Zorlu Group also carries out the natural gas distribution operations in the Trakya and Gaziantep regions.

In the Aegean region, Zorlu Energy also has geothermal investments in the mainfields of Denizli-Kızıldere, Kütahya-Simav and Manisa-Alaşehir. In addition to the 15 MW Denizli Kızıldere plant, where it holds 30 years of running rights, Zorlu Group laid the foundations of Turkey’s biggest geothermal plant in March 2012. As well as Zorlu Energy Group’s Gökçedağ wind farm, which has an installed capacity of 135 MW and which started generating electricity in 2010, there are two more ongoing wind farm projects in Osmaniye Sarıtepe (50 MW) and Demirciler (60 MW), currently in the pre-investment stage. Furthermore, pre-investment studies for the Dalaman, Sami Soydam and Harşit, Tirebolu hydroelectricity power plants, with 124 MW and 60 MW capacities, respectively, are continuing. As well as Turkey, the Zorlu Energy Group is also seeking investment opportunities in the Asian and Middle East markets, where energy demand is increasing rapidly, as it seeks to become an important regional player. Ongoing projects in Pakistan and Israel represent important steps taken by Zorlu Group to this end.

Property:

Zorlu Property Group was established to develop real estate projects on valuable plots of land both in Turkey and abroad. Construction work on Zorlu Property’s two projects, the Zorlu Center and its prestigious Zorlu Levent Ofis project, is currently ongoing. The Zorlu Center, one of the five first functional mixed projects in Turkey, consists of a performing arts center, a hotel, offices, a shopping mall and residences. The USD 2.5 billion Zorlu Center will be opened in the third quarter of 2013.

Zorlu Center’s performing arts center, which has a seating capacity of 3,070, will be opened by Nederlander, which is marking its 100th anniversary.

With its unique green spaces and other integrated functional structure, the Zorlu Center shopping mall will be a new meeting point of fashion and food lovers in Istanbul, boasting numerous shops and restaurants.

The Zorlu Center residences, which will command views of the Princes’ Islands, the Bosporus Bridge and the historic peninsula are also awaiting their very first owners.

The Zorlu Property Group selected Raffles, a premium luxury hotel brand, for the hotel that will be located in the Zorlu Center. The Raffles Istanbul Zorlu Center will have 184 different rooms, 136 of which will be standard rooms, with 47 suites and one presidential Suite.

The Zorlu Center is expected to be one of Istanbul’s most prestigious international points of attraction with its location overlooking the Bosphorus and its breathtaking scenery.
